Some concepts you should know...

Rainfed agriculture: it refers to the agriculture of crops that are not irrigated artificially. It relies on rainfall for water.

Irrigated agriculture: It refers to the agriculture in which the human being supplies plants with the necessary water to grow by means of ditches, pipes, sprinkler, etc.

Intensive agriculture: It refers to the agriculture where the input of human work per cultivated hectare is very high.

Extensive agriculture: It refers to the agriculture where the input of human work per cultivated hectare is very low.

Mechanised agriculture: It refers to the agriculture in which machinery is systematically used in all the production processes.

Itinerant agriculture: It is a very primitive agriculture. It consists of burning a forest area, fertilize the soil with the ashes and grow several harvests until the soil runs out of nutrients and stops producing. Then the process is repeated in another area of forest.

Plantation agriculture: It is typical of tropical countries. It consists of growing the same product in large extensions of land. The cultivated products are intended for exportation. Typical products of plantation agriculture is the sugar cane, the coffee, the cocoa, the cotton, the rubber, the banana, etc. These big plantations belong to a single landowner. Thus, in many tropical countries most of the fertile soil is in the hands of a few rich families (and used for exportation crops)

Aquaculture: It consists of the captive breeding of fishes for human consumption.

Extensive animal husbandry: In this type of animal husbandry, a large area of land per head of livestock is used.

Stabled animal husbandry: In this type of animal husbandry, a small area of land per head of livestock is used. In short, it is the name given to farm animal breeding.
